SAN MATEO – Defending 3C2A state champion College of San Mateo continues to hold its tight grip on the top spot state rankings. On Tuesday, the Bulldogs were once again listed as the No. 1 team in the California Community College Fastpitch Coaches Association state poll.
CSM has held the top spot since the preseason poll and continues to roll to an unbeaten start to the 2026 season.
On Thursday, San Mateo picked up two more big wins with a doubleheader at home, defeating No. 6 state-ranked Cosumnes River College 7-6 and No. 19 Fresno City College 9-1 in six innings.
Facing their first loss of the season, the Bulldogs erased a 6-1 deficit by scoring six runs in the bottom of the seventh inning for the amazing walk-off victory over Cosumnes River.
Hannah Ames and Selena Gonzales hit back-to-back home runs to get the rally started before Nia Mapa smashed a game-tying three-run home run. With two outs, Alyssa Green singled and came in to score on Peyton Huber's game-ending double.
Lola Sierra picked up the complete-game victory in the circle, striking out 10 batters, to improve to 10-0 this season.
With momentum clearly on their side, the Bulldogs followed that with a 9-1 win over Fresno City.
The power surge continued as CSM launched six home runs, including two each from Mapa and Ale Phillips. Ames and Green also homered for the Bulldogs.
Mapa added three more hits and 4 RBI to close her day at the plate a combined 7-for-7 with 3 home runs and 7 RBI. Mapa also tossed five scoreless innings against FCC without allowing a hit.
CSM, now 15-0 overall, returns to action on Saturday (Feb. 21) when the Bulldogs host Lassen College in a doubleheader that gets underway at noon.
