It was a successful week for the College of San Mateo women's volleyball squad. The Bulldogs went 3-0 last week, winning all three of its matches by sweep, to improve to 11-5 overall this season.
The Bulldogs opened the week with a 27-25, 25-13, 25-19 victory at home over Monterey Peninsula. That was followed a pair of wins at home on Friday as CSM dispatched College of the Siskiyous (25-23, 25-16, 25-14) and Merced College (25-13, 25-18, 25-23).
With the wins, CSM held on to its No. 11 spot in this week's California Community College Women's Volleyball Coaches Association (CCCWVCA) State Poll that was released on Monday.
Playing a huge role in those victories was freshman pin hitter Synia Hunt. Over the three matches, Hunt totaled 39 kills, compiled a .375 hitting percentage, and added six blocks. For her dominant effort, Hunt was named one of three CCCWVCA State Players of the Week.
San Mateo has won six of its last eight matches and is back in action on Wednesday (Oct. 8) at 5 p.m. when the Bulldogs host Hartnell College.
