Dorn wins again to lead Bulldogs at Hartnell Pink in the Park race
SALINAS – College of San Mateo's Ericka Dorn continues to put a target on her back.
On Saturday, the sophomore standout won her second consecutive race, this time taking first place in the women's three-mile event at Hartnell College's first-ever Pink in the Park. The event, formerly known as the Toro Park Invitational, was held at Toro Park in Salinas.
Dorn had some of the state's best competition trying to chase her down. She ran a Toro Park personal-best time of 18:23.28 to take first place. The time is also the seventh-best in the history of the meet.
In three races this season, Dorn has won two and has a third-place showing. She's considered one of the top runners that could capture a state championship this season.
Teammate Deia Kerseg-Foreman joined Dorn in the top-10 in Salinas, medaling with a seventh-place finish. She clocked in at 19:13.76. Rounding out the San Mateo women's trio was Lina Cruz Padilla in 16th place with her time of 20:10.26.
With a full squad, the CSM men's cross country team totaled 256 points to finish in 10th place out of 13 teams at the Hartnell College Pink in the Park race.
The Bulldogs were led by Mariano Beas with a 41st place finish. He cleared the four-mile Toro Park course with a time of 22:24.93. Colin Williams joined him in the top-50, running 22:36.94 for 50th place.

The CSM cross country teams are back in action on Oct. 17 when the Bulldogs will compete at the Pat Ryan Invitational. The event is hosted by Santa Rosa Junior College and will take place at Spring Lake Park in Santa Rosa.
