Dorn wins first NorCal title in women’s program history; CSM sends four to state
FRESNO – College of San Mateo sophomore Ericka Dorn continues to make history. On Friday, she continued her epic run of first-place finishes by winning the women's individual title at the Northern California Regional Championships.
Dorn cleared the 5,000-meter Woodward Park course with a time of 18:23.78 to capture her fifth consecutive gold medal this season. It marked the first-ever individual regional championship in CSM women's cross country program history.
San Mateo's three women's runners earned All-Northern California honors. Joining Dorn on the first team was sophomore Deia Kerseg-Foreman with her sixth-place finish. She clocked in at 19:07.77. Freshman Lina Cruz Parada earned second-team All-NorCal accolades with her eighth-place showing. She ran a season-best time of 19:20.77.
All three have qualified as individuals for the 3C2A State Championships, which will also take place at Woodward Park on Nov. 22. Dorn should be the favorite and will look to make history by winning the state title after finishing in 15th place as a freshman last season.
On the men's side, the Bulldog men totaled 307 points to finish in 12th place at the Northern California Regional Championships.
Freshman Colin Williams led San Mateo with his 48th-place finish. He clocked in at 22:37.48 on the four-mile Woodward Park course. Williams has qualified for the state championships as an individual.
